Scope of the UNIX, ONYX, WordPress, and Corporate Hosting Plan

Our UNIX, ONYX, WordPress, or Corporate Hosting plan is based on a shared hosting platform and is ideal for hosting most personal or small business websites, with limits on space, monthly transfer, or email accounts!

While it is designed so you don't have to worry about your plan's resources, it's important to remember that certain resource consumptions can pose risks to the stability of the shared platform, and... We want everyone to enjoy the maximum possible speed!

That's why in this article, we provide you with details of anti-abuse techniques for this plan and tips to keep your consumption at an optimal level for this type of service.

Inodes Inodes make up the data structure of systems and are the cells responsible for storing your files and directories on your Hosting (mainly emails and web files), in a practical equation: one inode = one file.

While it's true that initially there is no limit on disk space, there are certain considerations regarding the number of hosted files: the more files, the slower the disk access speed, as the used inode count increases.

Stages at which your Hosting could be degraded by files When you reach 65,000 inodes (that is, 65,000 files) or 7 GB of storage, we will notify you that your account is growing beyond the healthy recommended amount for a shared Hosting plan.

If your account continues to grow to 70,000 inodes or 8 GB of storage, we will temporarily disable the backup of your Hosting account as backing up such a large number of files risks the task not being able to finish on time and compromising its performance.

At 80,000 inodes or 10 GB of consumed space, you will receive another alert that your account has continued to grow. At this point, the system will impose a limit of 100,000 inodes and 20 GB so that you can still continue writing to disk.

Note that once you reach 100,000 inodes or 20 GB, it will no longer be possible for you to continue writing more files to your Hosting, and you will have to consider upgrading to a more powerful plan or reducing consumed resources.

Excessive use of inodes or space does not always indicate abuse. Many times we forget that it is necessary to clean up files, and here are some useful tips to maintain optimal values:

Delete unnecessary files and folders: review files and folders and decide if each file is necessary or not. If the file is an old backup file or if a folder was created for testing purposes, you can delete it or download it locally. Know what is consuming space on my Hosting.

Delete old emails and/or spam emails.

Remember to empty the trash for each email account on your domain.

Delete cache files: most CMSs use cache to reduce response time, and an application like WordPress or Joomla can create a large number of cache files that will greatly increase inode usage. Therefore, it is advisable to monitor cache folders and ensure that the number of cache files is as expected.

If the problem is in the amount of stored files (inodes): Did you already know about the Inode Monitor? We created this tool so you can quickly discover where the problem is.

Email accounts Email boxes are significant consumers of resources; it is essential to consider the following:

Each email account generates new consumption of your inodes. If you configure your email via IMAP or only use Webmail, the emails will stay on the server, and your inode consumption will increase over time.

Antispam filters are significant consumers of resources such as CPU and RAM, so if you have many email accounts or receive many emails, it will affect your plan's resource consumption. It is recommended not to exceed 5 email accounts on any Shared Hosting service. This is sufficient load for your Hosting plan.

Remember that the email service included in your hosting plan is a complimentary add-on that we offer so you can have email boxes @ your domain. If you need a professional email service, we recommend using OX App Suite Professional, Outlook for Business, Amazon Mail, Google Workspace, or Zoho Mail, as recommended in this note.

Monthly transfer Bandwidth usage (monthly transfer) is measured in the amount of GB that your Hosting account transfers monthly, similar to your mobile provider's data plan. This not only counts for visits and queries received on your site but also according to the volume of information you can download or upload from the account, emails you send or receive.

A small site or an institutional website, a small shopping cart, or a personal blog, for what the plan is designed for, does not consume more than 1 GB per day, based on statistics from 98.3% of all the sites we host.

The optimal level of monthly transfer for a shared platform is 1 GB per day. Emails are up to a limit of 200 outgoing emails per day (without exceptions).

To summarize Resource Optimal Quantity Inodes/disk space Less than 65,000 files or 5GB of space Email accounts Less than 5 accounts Monthly transfer Less than 1 GB per day (10 GB per month).
